3 Reasons Why Online Guitar Lessons Is The Superior Method For Beginners

Posted By on March 22, 2011

Beginner guitarists have quite a few choices for how they learn to play guitar There are dvd courses, private lessons and of course online guitar lessons. Each of these choices has it pros and cons.

I believe that for a motivated self starter online lessons are likely the best guitar lessons out there.

Easy Access

Online guitar lessons are available more or less any where you can get access to the web. Most membership sites I’ve been a part of provide their lesson content in a low, medium and high bandwidth format. That means that you can adjust the quality and size of the video you watch based on the Internet connection you’re using to view them.

Short Snippets

Generally speaking most online guitar videos are short snippets about a broad topic. For instance when learning the notes on each string a private instructor might spend a half hour and teach you all six strings at once. With online lesson videos you might learn the notes on one string at a time in six different videos.

These shorter snippets of lesson content make them easy to digest in short periods of time. Only have 15 minutes to check out a lesson today? No problem since most of the lesson videos can be digested in that time frame.

You’re In Control

Something I always thought held me back from learning more on the guitar was the fact that I was willing to put in far more work then was required for my one guitar lesson a week. My lesson was always on a Tuesday night, but by that Friday I would have mastered what ever new skills I had learned and had four wasted days waiting for my next lessons.

With online lessons you can learn as much or as little as you want in the available time you have.

So if you’re really eager to learn you can watch two or three lessons a week and practice them each day. Or if you’re strapped for time you can take an entire week off. The whole process is self paced and you’re in complete control of how quickly you learn.
